Theresa Ng’ambi (b. 1983 in Tendere, Zambia), known by her artist name “Kanjiba” (Nsenga for “wild dove”), is an award-winning Afro‑traditional musician, multi-instrumentalist, storyteller and conservation advocate.

Raised by a widowed mother and inspired by her grandmother’s folk songs and her kalimba‑playing grandfather, she began writing in a diary after losing her parents, brother and grandparents at a young age, channeling her healing journey into music. A graduate in music and English from Evelyn Hone College, she emerged on the professional scene with her debut single “Watembeleredwa” and later released her first album Mandu (2016), earning her the 2018 Best Singer title at the Zambia Women in Music Awards.

Her work spans recording and live tours across Africa, the US, UK, Australia and more, TEDx performances in Lusaka, environmental activism—she’s Zambia’s Bird Conservation Ambassador and composer of climate‑action songs—and collaborations with artists like Hugh Masekela, Sampa The Great and the legendary Zamrock band WITCH on their 2023 Zango album
